What is an Enrolled Agent (EA)?
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax professional federally authorized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. EAs earn the credential by passing a comprehensive IRS examination or through qualifying IRS experience, and must meet continuing education and ethical requirements. Enrolled Agents have unlimited representation rights before the IRS, meaning they can represent taxpayers in matters such as audits, collections, and appeals.
